The cows are in a new area of the forest which means new sunset views!!

Iris and I have been working for months clearing areas of forest for the cows to enjoy. That means creating walkways thru dense underbrush, trimming back large tan oaks and manzanitas, and removing dead foliage.

It’s pretty awesome to watch the cows explore and enjoy after all the hard work!

What’s better when it’s bigger: Dreams & Caring⚡️

Dreams should be huge!
Care as much as possible about your passions!!

I say this one a lot. You gotta dream big, bigger than you imagine. When you add in family/children your dream can be even better than your wildest imaginations. My kids only sweeten the deal. I get to do this with them. We learn together. What a privilege for me! They watch me choose to give a damn every single day and I show up for them and this farm, with love. Humbly for sure, because I fumble a lot!

By all “normal” standards I’m an oddball:
I’m 44, unmarried.
I have 4 children.
3 different fathers for my kids.
I live in my mother’s barn.
I’m on food stamps.

Life is pretty much like farming: 4% what you plan for and 96% unexpected. I choose to make the best of it. I wake up every dang day with gratitude to be alive and living this life. I’ve proven to myself that despite all odds I can create something amazing. It’s been the hardest and the best thing I’ve ever done.

In a world of people obsessed with themselves, caring for others is a superpower. Taking care of my family & farm is a joy for me. There are always those who will mistake caring for weakness,. (let em! karma is a bitch) Caring doesn’t mean permissive. Caring for others definitely means knowing when to show your teeth and setting boundaries, but you do it with love.

Caring for my children has made me a better farm(h)er.
Caring for my farm has taught me how to be a better mother.
Caring for myself has made my dreams reality.
Dreaming for my family has made me a better nurturer.
